Singer Davido has disclosed that his Father, Chief Adeleke bought his music contract in 2011 making him an independent artiste.
This was disclosed via his X handle in reply to the music executive, Tosin Ashafa who made the revelation in his 2019 post.
According to Tosin on his X handle ” I signed @davido to his 1st Official contract under black diamond promotions with Cecil Hammond/another silent partner.
We hired @GodwinTom to manage him .Dr Adeleke realized David was really serious with pushing his music without him , reached out to us and bought us out.
However the talented afrobeat artiste thanked Tosin for giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent and also helping to push his career.
“Lmao I remember this day 😂. So much respect to you guys for allowing me walk!! Just know u were part of something that turned out to be phenomenal!! 🌎🌎🌎”
The talented Musician also revealed how his father made him to become independent since 2011 with having issues with record Labels.
“No I signed the contract in 2011 … was a good contract not bad ! But daddy wanted me to have 100 percent of whatever I was doing ! Especially after I played him first cut of Dami duro video in his office ! He knew it was game time!!!”.
Meanwhile Davido is set to release another album name 5IVE in less than 2 year after releasing his blockbuster album, Timeless!
The album is expected to drop in march 2025 but the music icon has dropped a pre-save link of the album.
On the other hand, in an interview with Nedu Wazobia, May D revealed that davido once visited his house when he was under PSquare and couldn’t believe what he saw.
“Yes, during the time davido’s dad was chasing after him, he came to me and asked to sleep for my place. I took him to my house at psqure place, he couldn’t believe where i was staying.
He had to leave saying that he won’t sleep in such an awful place” .
